Those Many Who Have Passed On: Activists & Others
Introduction for Those Many Who Have Passed On: Activists & Others
So many are gone … or, rather, have already been gone for 20+ years. The younger generation never had a chance to meet these dynamic individuals. My searching the Internet for information on most of them has come up with shockingly few, if any, references. Most died during the height of the AIDS epidemic in the late 1980s and early 1990s. I also included those who died from other causes if I had the information. I have tried as best I can to include birth/death dates for everyone. However, there are several for whom I have not been successful, using the resources at hand. (As with all of these albums if you – the reader – have information that should be added, or if somehow I inadvertently made a mistake, please help me correct it).
Rather than repeat the dates of those who have died in each and every photo, I opted to create this special gallery for the deceased. Whenever possible, I have used a photo not included elsewhere and one that more closely resembles a portrait.
The order of these pictures is based upon how close these individuals were to me. It is limited to my personal and activist lives.
Let us not avoid the obvious questions. Why them? Why not me? Well, OK, I have thought about this rather regularly. It is, after all, the ultimate question of why one lived and another died … due to any fatal cause.
