Labuan Bajo and Environs on East Nusa Tenggara Island (1): Animals, People, Places

Labuan Bajo is the town on the western coast of East Nusa Tenggara where you stay in order to visit the island of Komodo where the ‘dragons’ live. This gallery is set up in the same basic format as the other Asian galleries. People, places, plants, other living creatures. The town itself seems to be dominated by a Muslim population. However, once you go out into the countryside (which I did on a rented motor scooter) it becomes mostly Christian (little churches and other indicators). Indonesia is a complicated country to come to terms with. Hopefully I am mostly just trying to be an honest observer, however, after comparing the islands and four countries visited – and then adding those perceptions into the accumulated computer that is my brain – well, a few tentative theories can’t help but coalesce.
