Aigües Tortes National Park Lleida (Catalunya)
Introduction to Aigües Tortes National Park, Lleida (Catalunya)
There is something purifying about being in a totally natural and wild environment that has somehow avoided the destructive interference of man. Usually these places are simply too remote and difficult to exploit. Their reward is sometimes to be declared a National Park. Spain in it’s wisdom declared two National Parks within Spanish territory in the Pyrenees mountains. The Spanish share with the Brits a serious pleasure in walking. That is the key to maintaining the pristine state of both Aigües Tortes Park and its magnificent larger brother (let us keep these things masculine!) Larissa. The Pyrenees have somehow managed to escape the impact of mass tourism, something which enhances their dignity and preserves their state of innocence to my way of thinking.
