Introduction to Orto Botanico di Pisa
Although the Pisa garden is the oldest botanical garden in the world (1543) its highlights for the visitor are a dozen or so very old tree specimens some several hundred years old. In the world of Homo sapiens very few plants are given the chance to realize their full size and age so it is only deep in the forest or in a few of the world’s oldest botanical gardens that one has the opportunity to see the magnificence of these often huge ancient tree specimens.
