Ancient Egypt
Introduction for Ancient Egypt
So much more of antiquity survived in Egypt than in any other ancient civilization. The reasons are obvious: tombs were hidden and so many survived intact or almost so. Buildings and public monuments were often on such a vast scale that it would take a monumental effort to bring them down. And of course Egyptian civilization lasted for some 3000 years.
The images in the gallery include many that the viewer is unlikely to come across elsewhere.
