Introduction to the Gallery: Dar Balmira Botanical Garden
Photos from my roof deck garden in Fez. In 2018 I decided to call this green space a botanical garden. Considering how rare such a garden is, in not just Fez, but in all of Morocco, I feel that by virtue of how many different plants there are in this collection, it deserves a more professional designation. This gallery consists of general shots of the roof deck, as well as several sections of photographs of certain types of plants in the collection.
Although human visitors are few and far between, the garden is extremely popular with insects and birds, especially bees and butterflies. Many must fly several kilometers to get to the house and I am certain that whatever GPS system insects use, Dar Balmira is on their radar!
